MINISTRY WHERE YOU WORK?

Come and discuss……… could you have a ministry at work ?  how might God be calling you to expand your ministry ?  an opportunity to explore possibilities beyond your parish role.

Sunday 13th July 2008 2pm – 5pm, St John’s Church Centre, Westwood Heath
The workshop will take place on Sunday 13th July 2008 from 2pm to 5pm at St John’s, Westwood Heath, near Warwick University. Tea and coffee will be available at the start.
The programme for the afternoon will allow time to talk about what you actually do at work, and to explore how this might be Ministry. As well as talking together, we shall work in small groups and allow time for individual reflection. There will also be time for prayer, focussed on the issues of our workplaces.

Participants last time said the things they found useful included:
Hearing about ministry in a wide range of workplace settings
The chance to share and explore our varied ministries with people facing similar issues
Good reflective time which is supportive of what I do most of the week
Gives me strength to continue…..when the Church wants me to do more church-based activities

THE ROAD TO GROWTH LESS TRAVELLED

Paul Bayes writes:
Check out David Runcorn’s new Grove booklet "The Road to Growth Less Travelled" - helpful, provocative, interesting, deepening, excellent. In the face of declining church attendance, the call to mission can become nothing more than pressure to perform. Under this pressure, we are losing a quality our age most needs—depth.
How can we avoid becoming a restless, rootless church in a restless, rootless world? By engaging afresh in a contemplative spirituality which moves from anxiety to love, from coercion to community, and from a pre-occupation with church to a love for God and his world.  See here or order it through your local Christian bookshop

iMATTER

Revd. Chris Stoddard, Director of RUN, writes:
Have you seen our new resource 'iMatter'?  A beautifully filmed DVD that is designed to be used as a free 'give-away' by churches, groups and individuals aimed at stimulating conversation, exploring questions such as 'is there hope for me, do I actually matter and if so, to whom?'  This is RUN's major contribution to the Hope 08 initiative.  Further details and order on line at: http://www.run.org.uk/R/imatter/default.aspx
